On September 15th, 2022, Capcom released information about Ken's backstory in Street Fighter 6 that revealed he was not homeless and divorced, as leaks had previously suggested, but on the run from criminals who had falsely accused him of a crime. On June 4th, user posted art of Ken in the Peter Parker Sucking His Fingers meme, gaining over 5,000 retweets and 25,000 likes in one week (shown below, right).
For example, on June 11th, Twitter user posted fan art of Ken next to Sonic the Hedgehog and Daisy, gaining over 1,000 retweets and 7,100 likes in two days (shown below, left). Many artists made crossover edits showing Ken in other franchises being cheered up by non- Street Fighter characters. On June 4th, Twitter user also posted a joke about Ken saying the line, gaining over 12,000 retweets and 102,000 likes in one week (shown below, right). The images showed a picture of the longtime Street Fighter character Ken Masters in a brown coat as opposed to his usual bright red gi and sporting stubble (shown below). On June 3rd, 2022, after the release of the first full trailer for Street Fighter VI, possible leaked images of the full, unannounced roster began spreading online.
